Food is Love

This month, The Feminist Press published The Raging Skillet: The True Life Story of Chef Rossi. As part of our social media campaign for Rossi’s book, various staff and interns wrote about recipes that are meaningful to us. Mine went up on tumblr today.

Rossi’s memoir is about her own journey as a queer, feminist, Jewish chef, but it is also the story of her family. Like many families, Rossi’s and mine both have meaningful relationships with food–food is a part of our holidays, our get togethers, our comfort.

For my contribution, I wrote about one of my dad’s favorite breakfast pastries, an apple and sour cream coffee cake that he figured out how to make vegan specially for his weirdo vegan little girl–me.

Here is the link to the recipe and the post about it. It’s a bit hard to see the image of the complete recipe in the tumblr post, so I’ve pasted it below.

Happy baking, and go call your parents!
